2019 Ribbon Ridge Winery RR Pinot Noir Estate Reserve – Michael Chelus Review

2019 Ribbon Ridge Winery RR Pinot Noir Estate Reserve
Toward the end of last month, we returned to Ribbon Ridge Winery as part of my series bringing you the best wines from across Oregon. During another exploration of its excellent portfolio, we tried a dry riesling – the 2021 Ridgecrest Estate Dry Riesling produced & bottled by Ribbon Ridge Winery. We’re traveling back to Oregon now to explore this pinot noir from Ribbon Ridge Winery:

2019 RR Pinot Noir Estate Reserve produced & bottled by Ribbon Ridge Winery (Carlton, Oregon).

This wine is 100% pint noir from Ridgecrest Vineyards in the Ribbon Ridge AVA. Following fermentation, the wine was aged for ten months in French oak barrels (50% new) and then another seven months in neutral barrels. It comes in at 13.1% ABV.

Here it is in the glass:

Another look:

One more:

The wine showed a medium ruby color. Cherry, raspberry, maple, vanilla and oak all arrived on the nose. Cherry, raspberry and cranberry brought ripeness to the forefront of the palate followed by heftier notes of maple, bacon fat and oak. The wine was light-bodied and exhibited good length along with soft tannins. This wine would pair very well with a classic preparation of Cassoulet.

This wine* can be purchased for $69 directly from the winery’s website.

Stay tuned for more from Ribbon Ridge Winery!
