2021 Ridgecrest Old Vine Estate Pinot Gris – Michael Chelus, Nittany Epicurean

2021 Ribbon Ridge Winery Ridgecrest Old Vine Pinot Gris

Last month, my series bringing you the best wines from across Oregon brought us back to Ribbon Ridge Winery for a white wine – the 2018 RR Riesling bottled by Ribbon Ridge Winery. Let’s go back to Carlton now for another great white wine from this winery:

2021 Ridgecrest Old Vine Pinot Gris produced & bottled by Ribbon Ridge Winery (Carlton, Oregon).

This wine is 100% pinot gris from Ridgecrest Vineyards in the Ribbon Ridge AVA. Following fermentation, the wine was aged for five months in neutral French oak barrels. It comes in at 13.6% ABV.
Here it is in the glass:

Another look:

One more:

The wine showed a pale straw color. Apple, grapefruit, lemon, slate and whiffs of stone fruit each arrived on the nose. Apple, lemon candy and peach brightened a palate already light with notes of citron and hints of honeydew melon. The wine exhibited great acidity and balance. It was light-bodied and demonstrated good length. This wine would do as well as an aperitif as it would alongside grilled swordfish that had been marinated in lemon zest, thyme and extra virgin olive oil.

This wine* can be purchased for $27 directly from the winery’s website.
More to come from Ribbon Ridge Winery!
